Keeping Children Safe Online
As technology becomes an ever-present part of our children’s lives, it brings incredible opportunities for learning and connection - but also risks that we must all be vigilant about. Mobile devices and online platforms can expose children to inappropriate content, cyberbullying and even contact from strangers.
We encourage all parents and carers to:
- Monitor usage regularly: Know what apps and websites your child is using.
- Set clear boundaries: Establish screen time limits and agree on rules for online behaviour.
- Talk openly: Encourage your child to share if something online makes them uncomfortable.
- Use parental controls: These can help filter content and manage access.
The most powerful safeguard is an ongoing conversation. Children need to feel confident that they can come to you if they encounter something worrying online. Together, we can ensure that technology remains a positive and safe tool for learning and play.

Parents'/carers' responsibility to keep their child safe online
Thank you for your continued vigilance when your child/children are online or using mobile technology. We use CPOMS (an online safeguarding tracking tool) to record all safeguarding concerns. Where we have reason to do so (including concerning child use of mobile technology, use of inappropriate online sites, watching inappropriate movies or videos [e.g. YouTube], etc.), we may have to contact the parents/carers to explain our concerns. If these serious concerns persists, we may be forced to contact Surrey Social Care as part of our Safeguarding procedures. Surrey Social Care would then contact the parents directly.
To learn more about our Safeguarding procedures, please visit - https:// www.esherchurchschool.co.uk/policies/ (Child Protection and Safeguarding, ICT Acceptable Use Policy, Mobile Phone, Online safety policies)
In addition, please ensure that you have also completed the ICT Acceptable Use Policy document, shared last week via Weduc. Without completion, your child may not be able to use any computer technology in school. Please see the email or Weduc app for further information about what you NEED to do.
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring all children in school are safe online.

Esher Church School newsletter
sway.cloud.microsoft
On Sunday 9th November, our proud Faith prefects respectfully represented the whole ECS community at the Act of Remembrance at Christ Church Esher.
At ECS, we are proud of the vibrant, nurturing environment we’ve built together - a place where children feel inspired to learn, grow and thrive. To continue enhancing our facilities and enriching learning experiences, we invite you to support our School Improvement Fund.
This fund plays a vital role in helping us upgrade classrooms, invest in new learning technologies, improve outdoor spaces and create exciting opportunities for our pupils. Every contribution—big or small—makes a meaningful difference.
Why Give Regularly?
Regular donations allow us to plan ahead and prioritise projects that directly benefit your children. Whether it’s a new reading corner, science equipment, creative arts resources or building our new Innovation Hub, your support helps bring these ideas to life.
How to Contribute Setting up a monthly donation is simple and secure.
You can choose an amount that suits your family and know that every penny goes toward making our school even better for our children.
We are incredibly grateful to the families who already contribute. Your generosity is already helping us build a brighter future for all our learners.
Please see the letter from the Chair of Governors below, giving you more information about the ECS Innovation Hub and how to donate.
